B i o g r a p h y

Arthur started his musical studies at the age of 10 with piano lessons, and participated in his first recital at the age of 12. He began horn study at age 11. A native of Dublin, Ohio, Arthur is a graduate of Dublin Scioto High School, having served as principal horn for the top ensembles, squad leader and drum major of the marching band.  Arthur received numerous music awards throughout High School, including the John Philip Sousa Award.


He has performed with numerous prestigious ensembles; including the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras, American String Teachers Association (ASTA) High School Honors Orchestra, Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) All-State Band, The Ohio State University High School Honor Band and the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute (NSO SMI) 2010 where he played as principal horn at the Kennedy Center. He is also a regular attendee of the Kendall Betts Horn Camp, a prestigious horn institute designed to give horn students the knowledge and experience to become a professional musician. In the summer of 2013, he attended the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School as a scholarship student of David Wakefield.


Arthur has held positions as a substitute musician for the Columbus (OH), Springfield (OH), and Kentucky Symphony Orchestras. 


In addition to his ensemble work, Arthur has had extensive work as a soloist, having performed for the Master Classes of several distinguished horn players, including Thomas Bacon and Dr. Randall Faust, Charles Waddell, Bruce Henniss Lowell Greer, Douglas Hill, Bernhard Scully, Randy Gardener, Kendall Betts and Hermann Baumann. He was also the Third Prize Winner of The International Horn Society’s 2012 Solo Premier Competition.


Arthur is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University School of Music studying horn performance with Bruce Henniss; where he has held principal positions in both the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. He was recently one of six winners of the 2014 OSU Concerto Competition.


His horn teachers have included: David Urschel, Kendall Betts, Hermann Baumann, Bernhard Scully, David Wakefield, Andrew Bain and Bruce Henniss. Arthur currently resides in Jacksonville, FL, where in his rare free time, Arthur enjoy's gymnastics, baton twirling, Beachbody Workout programs and enjoying time at the local movie theater.
